Disney Dreamlight Valley: What to do While Waiting for the Next Major Update
I've completed all of the quests I can until the next major update, so for now I must sit back and relax!
Below are tips on what you can do while waiting. Some will require grinding out items, but it’s all worth it in the end!
Stay in the Loop on Seasonal Events
We don’t know how many events will be going on in the first year of Disney Dreamlight Valley, but there’s already been a couple!
Pixar Fest: This was the first look at what type of items would be rewarded and the cost (roughly) for what type of items.
Villain’s Star Path: As I’m writing this, Villain’s Star Path is the current event (pictured above). It was the perfect event surrounding Halloween.
Keep an eye on forums and news released from the game on their social platforms to ensure you don’t miss it. With the reality of life and responsibilities, you can’t always make an event, especially if it has a short window of time. Luckily, it seems like they will be timed for about 30 days.
Look at the event page duties and the Village section under the Dreamlight tab on your menu. I didn’t realize that they mix in seasonal quests there. I could’ve missed out on bonus items! for Villain’s Star Path we had the chance to be rewarded with special Autumn/ Fall decorations for our village.
Rearrange and Decorate Your Village
Have you been so wrapped up in quests that you put off decorating or rearranging the homes in your village?
I loved decorating but I saw all of the amazing ways people have been changing their layouts. For example, moving Merlin’s home from the Peaceful Meadow into the Forest of Valor. I thought the cooler colors fit the vibe better for a powerful wizard.
Have you seen the trees in your inventory that haven’t even been placed around your village? The sinister trees are different shades of purple and I used the slender sinister trees around Merlin’s house.
Don’t be afraid to use underbrush, rocks, and trees from other biomes. This will add different shades of color to the ones native to that area!
Load Up on Crafting Materials
Have you finally reached having 50 iron ingots, only to give most of it away to a villager for a quest?
Yes, I’m sure everyone has experienced the hustle of finding items to craft their desired recipes.
Now that you’re caught up on quests, take advantage by collecting what you need for the zen garden that required way too many stones for the actual size but you want to make it anyway! (Yes, I did this…)
I also suggest making sure to have enough left over. When you have quests requiring crafting, you won’t feel disappointed knowing that this will take you several hours to complete.
Check Scrooge’s Store Each Day
Scrooge’s store sells different items each day and you don’t want to miss out on getting something awesome.
I didn’t realize how long it would be until I finally saw the outdoor hedge maze, so I wish I would’ve upgraded his shop earlier on and checked it each day. Even when I didn’t plan on actually playing the game, I would just log in to check the store and buy the items I wanted.
The quicker you collect items that can all be placed outdoors, the quicker you can plan how you want to decorate your village.
Wrack Up Those Coins
Talking about Scrooge’s store means you need to give him his beloved coins…It’s luckily easy to wrack up coins quickly in this game. Here are some ways to do that.
Sell as many items as you can at Goofy’s stall. Here are some items that will get you a good amount of coin back:
Shiny Gemstones
They sell much higher than regular gemstones, but the normal ones are decent too.
For example, regular Amethyst sells for 500 coins, while Shiny Amethyst sells for 2,000 coins
Fish that you caught from the gold/yellow bubbles in any body of water
Pumpkins
Meals
VG247.com and NintendoGray.com provide a full list here of cost per meal.
Poached Basil Butter Sturgeon - 2200 coins
Pan-Fried Anglerfish - 2500 coins
Poached Basil Butter Sturgeon - 2200 coins
Let me know your thoughts on the game!
I love watching streams and clips from other people playing. It’s been great to see the creativity that has gone into decorating and styling the custom design option for our wardrobe.
Let me know what you’re having fun with most in the game and what you’re excited about for the future of Disney’s Dreamlight Valley!
